Sunlit design studio interior with a wooden worktable, textured walls, and deep architectural shadows.

Where ideas become objects.

Where ideas become objects.

Where ideas become objects.

A lighting studio in Jaipur exploring material, form, and the quiet ways light shapes a home.

STUDIO

Why we began

Why we began

Why we began

It began with a feeling .

Before Abhakaar was a brand, it was a question.

Why does a room with the right light feel completely different from a room with the wrong one—even when everything else is identical?

Abhakaar began with the belief that light is not simply something a room needs. It is part of what makes a room feel like home.

Founders' hands examining a wooden lighting prototype beside sketches and material samples.

Some things are worth making slowly.

Not because they need to be complicated, but because they become part of our lives.

A light left on in the evening.
A familiar object on a bedside table.
The small comfort of returning home and finding the room as you like it.

We hope what we make finds its way into those moments.

Not objects that ask to be noticed, but objects that are quietly remembered.

Thank you for making room for our work in your home.

STUDIO NOTES

Notes from the making.

Notes from the making.

Woodworking table with sketches and a wooden prototype in progress.

001

The first version was wrong.

Making has a way of exposing what drawing allows us to overlook.

Sunlight and window shadows falling across a quiet plaster wall and wooden floor.

002

The things we cannot see.

Sometimes the best evidence of care is what the finished object leaves unsaid.

Soft daylight and tree shadows falling across a quiet interior with a wooden table.

003

There is a moment when you stop touching it.

Knowing when to stop is part of making.

Close-up of solid wood grain showing its natural texture and changing surface under light.

Wood is where we begin.

Wood is where we begin.

Wood is where we begin.

We thought we were shaping wood. Wood had other ideas.

Every grain is different. Every surface receives light in its own way. A form that looks resolved on paper can change once it exists in the material.

We do not try to make wood behave like something else.

We begin by understanding what it already is.

— ABHAKAAR

Designed around what the light does.

Designed around what the light does.

Designed around what the light does.

We do not begin with the lamp.

We begin with where the light should fall, what it should soften, and what it should leave in shadow.

The object is only one part of the experience.

Warm light falls across a dark architectural interior, creating a pool of light and deep surrounding shadows.
Architectural view of Jaipur showing carved stonework, traditional domes, and a shaded courtyard.

Made in Jaipur.

Made in Jaipur.

Made in Jaipur.

A city of courtyards, thresholds, stone, and changing light.

Its architecture has a quiet way of making us notice proportion, shadow, and the spaces between things. We carry that attention into our work.

Ideas begin here. Materials are tested here. Forms are refined through making.

Our solid-wood lighting is developed through a close conversation between design and craft.

The city is not just where we work. It is part of how we see.
